Being a member of the Cumberland Art Society has many benefits, both material and intangible. The Society offers many opportunities for its members to participate in programs and activities that will enhance the member's personal development and community exposure in their chosen art field. Cumberland Art Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is supported by its members and generous friends of the arts. It is funded in part by the Tennessee Arts Commission, and the Cookeville Arts Council. Monetary donations are tax-deductible.

Members' Art Sales Artists can exhibit their work in a 5' x 5' section of the lobby wall at a cost of $20 per month, with a 3 month minimum. Sign up sheet is on the bulletin board. Payment should be made to the CAS secretary. Artists will hang their own work, and each art piece should be tagged with artist's name, title of work, medium, and sale price. The artist is responsible for restocking their own exhibit when items are sold.

CAS is looking for new ideas from those who are interested in keeping the art community alive and prospering in the Upper Cumberland region. Talk with your artistic friends and relatives and have them come by for a visit.

Don't forget to renew your membership! On your newsletter you will find your renewal notice located above your name on the address label. The first two numbers are the year when you joined CAS, the month and the last two numbers are the year your dues are payable. Thank you for your participation!

NOTICE: Library over-due books — missing books are Flower Portraits in Watercolor and Painting the Landscape. Thanks! Requests have been made for some of these books.  Please return them as soon as possible.

Become a Member

It's easy to become a member of the Cumberland Art Society. Come by our office on S. Walnut Ave. and apply in person, or download and complete the Membership application, and mail it to us with your check to Cumberland Art Society, 186A S. Walnut Ave., Cookeville, TN 38501. The membership application is a PDF file which uses Adobe Acrobat Reader® to open.

Member dues are $35.00 per year.

Your newsletter contains a reminder for when your dues are renewable. The first two numbers are the year you joined, followed by the month and year that your dues are renewable.

Several CAS members have personal Web sites featuring their artwork. If you have a Web site and wish that it be listed here, please contact the Webmaster with the information needed.

Please remember to pick up your artwork that is on display in the gallery and lobby by the end of each month.

Any CAS member may display their work at the First Tennessee Bank or the Putnam First Mercantile Bank. Sign-up sheets are in the CAS studio on the bulletin board.




Have you visited your CAS Library lately? There are many books and videos available for members on a large variety of subjects: instructional books in all media (oils, watercolor, pastels, drawing, colored pencil, and more); inspirational books with artwork of famous artists; and art history books. Books may be checked out for two weeks.
